A fuzzy, floating, free form poem for when you want nothing more than to escape life's cares with the help of a loved one and Mother Nature. Read it slowly, letting each image float through you into the heavens.

Just for today, follow me on foot

Walk with me down paved paths

Stooping to admire these small blades of grass

We’ll ask them about the strength it takes

To be so fragile

In a world so concrete

Talk with me

Look into my eyes

Discover all the shades of blue

Fly down this hill with me

Let’s laugh, dance, jump, wave, scream

For everything we've loved

And everything we haven't yet

See the billowing city in the distance

Familiar buildings in nameless shapes

Onto the stone bridge now

Watch the trees on the bank below smile.

They cling to the edge of the riverbank

Peering in at wandering fish

Catching birds as they fly

Walk up this hill with me

Look at this snapdragon

Dancing in the wind's melody

For today let’s just look at it

Let’s not take it

Not make it decoration

Just look, watch it simply be

It’s still

Quiet

The bee flitting around it

Wants nothing more

Than basking in its petals

Let your mind become only flower

Slow with me

Float on the pollen

Gaze up at supple clouds

What would you do if you could mold them?

I think I would build a fort

I’d bring my cat

And you of course

Look further now, go even higher

Let your mind rim the atmosphere

And spread over its domain

All this is here, and it doesn’t need distraction

It needs care and wonder

And a desire to keep it steady

The blade of grass and the flower and the clouds

Constant in their transience

They’re watching you too

Admiring the strength it takes

To stay so hopeful

In a world so concrete
